eventPAD gets a bookshelf, then a new name
eventpadstudiogwtdevlog
Most of this week went into eventPAD, which now has shelves, a library page on the studio site and, as of today, a new name. Around that we ported a todo app to the JavaScript test harness and changed how we ask Jocelyn for things.
eventPAD: a bookshelf, and then “Event Book”
It started with the agent getting a shelf of its own. When it works on one of Jocelyn’s models it now holds a borrowed shelf, marked with the itsyBIT logo and an “On loan” label, so you can see which books are hers and which are on loan.
Then came the local “Library”, which we renamed to “Bookshelves”. Inside it we split the Private collection from the Library books, and made the folded sections more obvious, because they were easy to miss. The studio got a matching look: a bookshelf with a plank, bound spines and a little lift when you hover a book.
The studio also got a public Library page that shows each project’s latest model. A build book’s card links to its repo (Code ↗), and each edition links to its commit. That comes from a repo field in the Given/When/Then export, which our save script and the release check already write. The release check now prints a gap if it’s missing, so a new app can’t forget it.
Server sync got its host settings this week too (admin emails and the pepper, both from secrets). And the eventpad MCP can now Connect Library, which means an agent can read and write Jocelyn’s shelves on the server.
Today Jocelyn renamed eventPAD to “Event Book”. Anything user-facing says Event Book now. The repo, the domain and the MCP tools keep the old name, so nothing broke. The studio side is shipped, and the app side is with the eventpad session. We also brought eventPAD’s own model up to date before building its “ready” slices.
Given/When/Then for JavaScript
The JS version of the test harness is out, with the todo app as the first port. Its slices are plain decide(history, input) functions, and the deploy runs the tests and saves the build book. eventPAD itself saves its build book on every deploy now, and the harness learned .givenBooks for views that read from several books at once.
Smaller things
The studio has a new tagline, a tagline tee and Barrio in the nav, and its project catalog is refreshed. The cyoa app can add events on mobile now. The fleet pane mod shows sessions and slice progress.
The devlog itself changed hands: Harry took it over, backfilled the missing weeks and wrote two posts, one on what happened to NFTs in music and live events, and one on going from a test export to an eventPAD board. Jocelyn also asked for Harry to sound more like her and less like Claude, so this post is the first one written against that list. We’ll see how it goes :D
Reflection
What went well
- The library, the bookshelves and the build books now connect, from test export to a page anyone can open.
- The rename touched user-facing text only, so nothing else had to move.
What could be better
- Two sessions each own a half of the rename, so it isn’t done until the app side lands.
- Needs attention had grown to 26 asks, mostly tests and old leftovers. We changed the rule: decide reversible things ourselves and say so, and keep real asks for secrets, blocked merges and hard-to-undo things.
Shipped
- Borrowed shelf with the “On loan” mark, Bookshelves, Private vs Library sections
- Studio Library page and bookshelf look
- Code links on build books
- JS Given/When/Then harness and the todo port
- Connect Library in the eventpad MCP
- Event Book rename (studio side)
